We hope you all enjoyed the long weekend; even though in our minds it's still Summer, it felt more like the October Bank Holiday. However, we await the sun's return and our "heat spike" tomorrow, but, in the likelihood that it doesn't happen, we've organised an American Whiskey Tasting in store which should help warm up our bellies anyway.

The tasting tomorrow is open to the public, and no booking is required. It will take place in-store between 4 pm and 7 pm. Aaron Mulligan will host it and will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

This American Whiskey Tasting Will Feature

Woodford Reserve Bourbon A fantastic tasting and unusual bourbon. Woodford Reserve is unusual in that they use 18% rye in the mash which lends spicier tones to the spirit. It also differs from other Bourbons as it is triple distilled and includes a portion of pot still whiskey.

Woodford Reserve Rye Bourbon A small batch pre-prohibition style rye whiskey which has been crafted to perfection with dominant notes of spice and tobacco among a sea of fruit, floral, and sweet aromatics. Made in the traditional style of Kentucky Ryes, Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey delivers bold flavours of pepper and tobacco with a long fruit and sweetly spiced finish.

Jack Daniels Single Barrell Charcoal-mellowed through 10 feet of sugar maple and aged in charred new American oak barrels 80% Corn 8% Rye 12% Malt. The nose of this single barrel select whiskey is typical of Tennessee whisky – it’s full-bodied, sweet and promises plenty of indulgent golden syrup notes on the palate. Your tongue is flooded with corn and caramelised sugar, honey and baking spices

Gentleman Jack Just like Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey and Jack Daniel's Single Barrel, Gentleman Jack is charcoal mellowed before going into the barrel. Gentleman Jack, however, receives an additional blessing when it is charcoal mellowed again after reaching maturity, making it the only whiskey in the world to be charcoal mellowed twice, giving it ultimate smoothness.

Corkscrew Hill

Even when we're not working we're thinking of The Corkscrew. Over the weekend a follower sent us a picture of a hill called after us and Tomasz took a spontaneous trip to The Burren in Clare to see it for himself. He was also very fortunate to be greeted with blue skies and sunshine. On his trip he found a beautiful spot for a decent glass of wine and another for a great pint of Guinness. His recommendations and a bit about Corkscrew Hill are in the short video he put together and you can check that out here.
