Shiraz
Syrah and Shiraz are essentially identical grape varieties. Referred to as Syrah in it's homeland of France and also in South Africa, it goes by the name Shiraz in Australia, California, and Chile. This grape is of high quality with thick skin and produces a dry, full-bodied wine that is both tannic and smooth. Common flavor notes include black cherry, blackberry, and black pepper; however, it can also exhibit various other flavors. It complements grilled and roasted meat dishes exceptionally well.
International Shiraz Day is celebrated annually on the 4th Thursday of July
On our shelves here at The Corkscrew you will find various styles of Shiraz with pizzazz from other regions of Italy, South Africa, Argentina, Spain & Portugal and a fine selection of Syrah also.
