"Casa Emma is a charming boutique estate that has long been on my radar. It was acquired by the Bucalossi family in 1969 from a Florentine noble woman named Emma Bizzarri, and the firm bears her name today. The 28 hectares of vines are certified organic and sustainability protocols are respected. For example, there is a fun program that sees a flock of 80 geese roam freely through the vines, fertilizing the soils as they go about their business. The farm also sells an interesting flour that can be used to bake pasta or biscuits called "polvere di Sangiovese" made from the ground pomace of Sangiovese grapes." Monica Larner
