Product Description
Tokaji has established its pedigree thanks to Tokaji-Aszù. This is the great wine of the appellation, always presented in its traditional 50 cl bottle. Tokaji-Aszù is made with Aszù grapes. These grapes have been affected by botrytis cinerea, and have been naturally dried up by the sun and warm winds. Aszù is a Hungarian term translated as “crystallized”.
The Aszù grape can come from the Furmint, Harslevelü, Zéta and Muscat grape varieties. Produced from Aszù grapes macerated in dry wine, its content of sugar depends on the number of puttonyos (small crates) of Aszù berries added to the dry wine. 3, 5, 6 puttonyos and Aszù Eszencia are aged during three years before being ready for bottling.
