Californian Wines For Thanksgiving
With most of the International Wine Holidays out of the way for November, attention is turning to Thanksgiving Day and Christmas. These special feasts give us a great excuse to trade up to something truly special, and as this Thursday is Thanksgiving, we're thinking something Californian is on the cards.
To coincide with Thanksgiving, we are hosting a Californian Wine Tasting in store this Thursday from 3pm to 6pm. Albert Banginski will be our guide and will show three wines that would be the perfect accompaniment at any feast. One of them was ranked the 40th best wine in the world in Wine Spectators' recent "100 Best Wines Of The Year". We'll make sure to have a few bottles in our fridge so they're ready for dinner.
If you won't make the tasting we have some more details on the wines below.

Wente Morning Fog Chardonnay 2022

€28.95

The wines that make Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines Of The Year are chosen based on quality, value, availability and excitement. This annual list honours successful wineries, regions and vintages around the world.Wente Morning Fog Chardonnay truly warrants its place on this list.

"This finds a remarkable balance between juicy lemon and pineapple flavours and notes of spice and toast, which show a touch of vanilla paste. The harmony between these elements really sings on the fresh, vibrant finish. Drink now."

Rombauer Vineyards was established in 1980 by Koerner and Joan Rombauer, it is a family owned winery based in Napa Valley. Passion, sustainability and great hospitality are at the forefront of their wine philosophy, and they produce a multitude of award winning wines.

This Zinfandel is their tribute to California wine history; its fruit was sourced from family-owned vineyards, all located in the state’s oldest and most revered wine regions some of which are over 100 years old.

Wente Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

€43.95

Wente is the longest, continuously family-owned and operated winery in the United States. 5th Generation winegrower Karl D. Wente continues the Wente Clone through the family’s legacy of Chardonnay.

This Estate Grown Wetmore Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is named after one of the Livermore Valley’s most prominent pioneers, California’s first agricultural commissioner renowned for planting vine cuttings from many of Bordeaux’s top Châteaux in the temperate Livermore Valley in the 1880s. Today only the best of these Cabernet Sauvignon vines have been selected for each new generation planted. And they are prized for making wines with intensity, depth of flavour, and rich, lush body.
